Expectations
Expecting something to turn out the way you want it to and then being let down when it doesn’t is such a vicious and useless cycle. This is why I don’t like New Year’s resolutions, or even setting an intention in class. Practice and detach. Do the best you can and let go. The expectations that we set for ourselves can be the worst. There’s a yoga sutra—Abhyasa vairagyabhyam tat nirodhah—that’s translated “Practice diligently and let go of the results.”
