Instructor
Josh Summers
Josh Summers, E-RYT-500, YACEP, L. AC., MSOM, is a Yin Yoga teacher and the founder of Summers School of Yin Yoga, based in Boston. He teaches workshops and trainings in Yin Yoga throughout the United States and Europe. Josh is also a meditation instructor and has been a licensed acupuncturist for 15 years. He began studying Iyengar yoga in the early 1990s with James Murphy in New York City. As his interest in vipassana (insight meditation) developed so did his interest in more contemplative forms of yoga practice, drawing him to Yin. He later learned Yin with Paul Grilley and trained to teach Yin with Sarah Powers. Josh has spent several years living abroad in India, Taiwan, and Burma, studying both yoga and meditation. He holds a bachelor's degree in cultural anthropology with a focus on East Asian religion from Columbia University. Josh co-created and co-teaches the course Mindfulness and Performance at Boston University and hosts the podcast Everyday Sublime: Shedding Light on Yin Yoga and Meditation. He is co-author of the books The Power of Mindfulness and The Buddha's Playbook: Strategies for Enlightened Living. For more information visit joshsummers.net.
