Inflammation is our body’s response to stress and its way of repairing damage via immune cells, hormones and nutrients. There are 2 types of inflammation, acute (which happens after a cut or bruise) and chronic (which is related to more autoimmune disorders like lupus or Crohn’s Disease). Chronic inflammation is the type that can be problematic and can potentially lead to long-term health problems. In a lot of cases, chronic inflammation can be eliminated or reduced by diet and lifestyle. Plant-based foods in particular are a great part of an anti-inflammatory diet.
