Defining and Refining Body Position
What Is Body Position?
Body position refers to the location of your center of gravity—more or less the belly button—relative to your shoulders and feet. Your hips, in conjunction with your core, help guide your center of gravity. If your hips are in the wrong place, your balance is off. Without proper awareness of body position, your forearms and fingers work harder than needed to stabilize your body on the wall, typically without success. In contrast, awareness of your center of gravity puts your weight on your feet and helps you transition that weight when it’s time to move your feet.
