Foraging Tools: While many plants can be harvested using your bare hands, it is often better for you and the plant if you use certain tools.

Cutting Tools

Knife – A knife that has a fixed or locking blade is best.

Clippers – These are for when you must cut harder materials, such as small branches or tough plant stalks. A good guide for using clippers is to use them on material that is no bigger than thumb thickness.

Small saw – These are useful for larger tree and shrub limbs, especially those over thumb thickness.
