Intermittent Fasting
Intermittent fasting (IF) is a pattern of eating that alternates periods of eating (feeding) with periods of not eating (fasting). Intermittent fasting is also known as Time Restricted Feeding (TRF).
Fasting is not a new concept. Most cultures and religions practice some sort of fasting. During the month of Ramadan, Muslims fast while the sun is up. On Yom Kippur, Jews fast for 25 hours. Native Americans would go on fasting vision quests. Christians observe Lent, and the Hindus observed the Maha Shivaratri holiday.
